Some species, such as caribou, require the protection of vast territories of old-growth boreal forest, potentially placing any conservation protection program at odds with oil and gas, mining, or logging companies.

The above quote was taken from a Globe & Mail article titled Ottawa’s inaction could result in extinctions – link here – which is a story all too familiar in Alberta.

Unfortunately with 550 species in the queue, continued “research”, political infighting and special interest lobbying this is a situation that will not be resolved any time soon.
