This photo was taken during a boat tour of the Wineglass Bay area around Freycinet National Park Tasmania, Australia.

The ride was your average 3 hour tour variety with a twist as we had a canine first mate. Smokey decided to hop on board at the last minute which was a good thing as we were told he was ‘the dolphin spotter’. Cute. We didn’t think anything of it until about 90 minutes into the voyage Smokey jumped up from a nap and started going ape looking like he’s about to jump overboard. As I had visions of ‘Cujo on the Tasman Sea’ the captain slowed the boat knowing what was about to happen next. Sure enough off in the distance a pod of dolphins was making their way towards us. While Smokey howled away the pod played in the wake of the boat for about 20 minutes before we sped off to the bay. Smokey picked up more dolphins on our way back to harbour but this pod was more interested in chasing down a passing jet skier.
