Yeah it’s been too long… theexplorerslens.com is still active.  We’re working on some larger Trip Journal projects for the site so things my be a little slower than usual for the next little while.  For the time being here are a couple of images shot two years ago at the local airfield.

Truth be told Cam’s not smitten with these images.  Maybe it’s the abstract nature of the photo or the fact that DAKOTAs (DC-3 variant) are not everyones thing.  For me, I have a soft spot for vintage aircraft – a certain nostalgia.  I just wish more would frequent our little airfield.  This particular DC-3, purchased from the Israeli airforce and brought to Canada, saw service during WWII and is rumoured to have taken part in the invasion of Normandy.

I decided on an abstract approach to these images because the plane was not whole (being sold for parts) and to avoid the terrible contrast conditions (blowing out highlights) created by a pale overcast sky.
