Kilimanjaro National Park, Tanzania.

Cresting Stella’s Point, you can see it in the distance even though the ever present clouds threaten to hide it. There is no mistaking the tilted outline of the man-made marker in the midst of the beautiful glaciers, volcanic outcrops and muted terracotta tones of the lava ash pits. Prosper, our guide, tells our heavy breathing group that it is another hour to the summit, where Kilimanjaro’s battered and weathered sign will welcome us to Uhuru Peak – the Roof of Africa.

It’s not often we appear in our own features but this one’s an exception as we’ve had requests for ‘more photos of the top’ and I forgot to post this with our other summit photos (link – here).
